Somebody in India asked for the Moon's position set out simply, and he answers with a table of the next thirty-four years, 2027 to 2060, worked from NASA's new moon times. He goes through it column by column: the time of the new moon; the Moon's age at sunset, which needs to be about twenty hours for the crescent to be seen, and nineteen only with great difficulty; its altitude, where under ten degrees it will not be seen, marked in red; how many minutes it stays above the horizon, where under forty-five it is not seen; and a code saying whether it will be seen by eye, with a telescope or not at all, explained in Urdu beneath. On the right is the Islamic date up to 1483 AH, with every month marked as twenty-nine or thirty days and its first day given. The table shown is for Surat, and he says it is being given for many countries. It was prepared by Hafiz Engineer Muhammad Tahir of Manchester.
